L Bar
L Bar, a Chicago train themed bar is a concept that aims to transport patrons into the heart of Chicago's iconic elevated train system, commonly known as "The L." This immersive and innovative bar experience combines the nostalgia of vintage train cars with modern design elements, creating a dynamic and vibrant space.

Why Me? Why This?
Allow me to introduce myself; I'm Kat Donovan, and my roots run deep in one of Chicago's most storied neighborhoods – Wrigleyville. You may recognize this area for its close connection to the iconic Wrigley Field, where the Chicago Cubs play. From an early age, my upbringing in the heart of this historic city left an indelible mark on me.

My mother, hailing from a humble Iowa farm, and my father, raised in the Chicago suburbs, shared a profound pride in raising my brothers and me in this diverse and captivating city. While they didn't have the same worldly experiences growing up, they were determined to provide us with something invaluable. They wanted us to understand that they chose to raise us here for a reason – they wanted us to harness the unique advantages of growing up in an urban environment. They encouraged us to utilize Chicago as our babysitter, to cultivate independence, embrace diversity, and above all, develop the street smarts and self-assuredness that city kids possess.

For these reasons and more, I embarked on solo train rides at the tender age of ten. Always clutching my trusty money clip containing a $20 bill and my mother's sage advice, "If anyone approaches you, what do you say? Here's $20; you can take this, but not me." Fortunately, I never had to use that precaution. My childhood was spent mastering the intricacies of the CTA system, using it as my passport to explore Chicago independently. The train became my sanctuary for learning and soothing anxiety. I instinctively knew that the "L" would chart my course for the day's adventures.

As I progressed through high school, the "L" evolved into my personal retreat for relaxation and introspection. When my first teenage romance crumbled, I spent hours journaling and watching the sunset from the panoramic view of the Red Line in the Loop. The "L" was my guiding light during my formative years, providing solace and inspiration.

Now, as I stand on the precipice of adulthood, I am driven to pay homage to the historic "L" and the CTA system that has been a steadfast companion throughout my life. I believe it's time to create a dedicated space for celebration, a place that encapsulates the spirit and essence of Chicago's elevated trains. That's why I'm excited to propose the concept of a Chicago Elevated Train-themed bar, a space where we can all come together to celebrate the remarkable legacy of the "L" and the CTA.
